DoorsOpenDays.com: "Railway Coastal Museum
Open: 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday
Located at 495 Water Street. The railway and coastal service changed the lives of Newfoundlanders. For many people, especially those in isolated communities, these services not only transported supplies and people, but it brought education, medical care and the chance for a better life by improving communication throughout the island. The Railway Coastal Museum, located in the original 1903 Riverhead Train Station, tells the fascinating story of how these services changed Newfoundland. Come meet our CN pensioner Volunteers, who worked on the Trains and Coastal services, and see why this Museum recieved the Manning Award (2004) and has been designated a National Historic Site.
